Speaking with Country is a culturally responsive course that supports early years educators in exploring Aboriginal perspectives on Country, language, and identity. Through professional development and a series of engaging, age-appropriate lessons, this course invites educators and children to discover how Aboriginal Nations defined their territories through kinship, landmarks, and cultural protocols—not Western-style borders. With a focus on respect, language revival, and connection to place, the course equips educators to embed First Nations perspectives into their everyday practice in meaningful and inclusive ways.

Program 2: Living with Country (YUWI)

Enrolment on payment

Living on Country: First Scientists, Engineers and Innovators is a professional learning course designed to equip early educators with the knowledge, language, and culturally respectful strategies to teach young children about Aboriginal innovation and engineering. Through four engaging lessons—The Tools of Our People, Tracking and Tools, Grass Trees and Spears, and Stone Tools and Stories—educators are guided to explore traditional technologies such as boomerangs, nulla-nullas, spears, and stone tools. Each lesson links cultural practices to scientific thinking, encouraging children to see Aboriginal people as the first scientists, engineers, and problem-solvers. The course supports educators in embedding Aboriginal perspectives into the early years curriculum through hands-on experiences, storytelling, and nature-based learning. By connecting deeply with Country, materials, and sustainable practices, educators help foster respect, curiosity, and cultural understanding in the next generation.
